Due to COVID-19 and restrictions from the US Department of Homeland Security and Transportation Security Administration, the Lumberjack Steam Train & Camp 5 Museum in Laona, WIsconsin has made the decision to close for the summer of 2021.
During the past year, Camp 5 has taken the opportunity to do many extensive updates to the complex including : new lighting and refurbished displays at the Nature Center; enhanced health protocols such as expanded outdoor seating and new appliances and electrical upgrades at the Choo-Choo Cafe; deep-cleaning of the train cars; and painting and flooring replaced at the Depot.
Many thanks to the Laona Lions Club for rebuilding windows at the barn, museum and train and for installing new windows at the Nature Center.
The Lumberjack Steam Train and Camp 5 is Wisconsin’s forestry museum and the “4-Spot” steam locomotive, built in 1916, is the only Prairie style steam locomotive operating in Wisconsin.
Through this challenging time, Camp 5 is working hard to keep both our staff and visitors safe. Additional information about the reopening in summer of 2022 will be shared at a later date. We look forward to welcoming you - and the Cowboys - then.
